While working on research and development, one can focus on discovery of new drug, along with preclinical trials and toxicology studies. In addition to that one may also engage in pharmacology vigilance. Some of the typical job titles in the roles mentioned above include – Pharmacologist, Clinical Research Scientist, and Toxicologist. However, all these possibilities are only workable if you do not miss out the last date of admission to the M. Pharm. in Pharmacology program.

Clinical Research Organizations or CROs

Armed with the two-year Master’s course also opens up doors at Clinical Research Organizations or CROs where these postgraduates shoulder responsibilities of clinical trials assessment for drug safety. They may even contribute to regulatory submissions for new drugs. Typical job descriptions in this sector include Clinical Research Associate and Regulatory Affairs Specialist, etc.

Educational and Research Institutions

The postgraduate program also enables the young people to build academic careers for themselves. They can join the posts of professors, lecturers and researchers at various educational and research institutes. This is how one can pursue the vocation of an educationist and a pharmacology researcher side by side.

Government organizations and Regulatory bodies:

Having a postgraduate degree in Pharmacology proves one’s ability to work in various drug regulatory bodies, like the FDA, CDSCO, and other agencies. While working at the government organizations these postgraduates get ample scopes to work on various aspects of regulation on pharmacology products including drug approval, safety evaluation, and policy formulation to name a few.

Toxicology and Drug Safety:

After completing the M. Pharm. in Pharmacology program one is equipped with the necessary knowledge pool and skill sets to work on drug safety assessment. Moreover the door to specialization in toxicology also opens up for them. They can contribute with their core technical knowledge at organizations that deal with ensuring safe and effective use of pharmaceutical products for both humans and animals.

Career opportunities overseas

An M. Pharm. in Pharmacology also prepares freshly passed out postgraduates to build excellent career opportunities overseas. They can find placements in multinational pharmaceutical companies in one hand while internationally acclaimed research institutes offer them excellent career opportunities on the other. In easier words this PG course opens up opportunities to global pharmaceutical manufacturers, clinical research institutes, and the top notch universities abroad.
